Sonic Frontiers Trailer has an open-area sound experience

The new trailer of Sonic Frontiers presents some different areas we can expect in the game. This 3D Sonic game attempt seems to be quite different from the previous games. On the one hand, it will be an open zone experience rather than linear levels.

Essentially, it will be a real sound experience in open world. Now it's easy to reject this idea. Sonic, especially 3D Sonic, does not exactly have the best reputation. Jumping on the train of the open world, especially so late, does not really inspire confidence.

However, I really think this idea can work. I imagine open areas where Sonic can reach its maximum speed combined with different platform challenges accessing new areas. The open world could really enjoy Sonic if it displays its speed properly.

Open world games really depend on the pleasure of moving and navigating. Sonic has potential here. Now, I have questions about how the gameplay will continue. Are we going to always try clumsily to make a researcher's head attack in an open world? It would be strange.

Here is what Takashi IZUKU, Creative Officer at Sonic Team USA had to say about Sonic Frontiers:

Sonic Frontiers is a huge step forward for the franchise, offering an advanced gaming experience that can be appreciated by the long-standing fans of Sonic and the enthusiasts of action-adventure. With the efforts of Sonic Team Japan's talented developers, we created a brand-new gaming experience style for Sonic The Hedgehog, where players will be able to explore lush and vast landscapes with the characteristic speed and capabilities of Sonic. There will definitely be a lot of twists at each turn in 'Sonic Frontiers', and we are delighted to unveil more information about the game in the coming months.

I have my questions about how Sonic Frontiers will play, but I choose to stay carefully optimistic.
